Annual Reports
The BSCP annual report is published every autumn. The report evaluates the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements for children and young people in Buckinghamshire. It also sets out areas for development.
The death of any child is a tragedy and every parent has a right to have such an event properly investigated. The vast majority of child deaths are the result of natural causes however, all child deaths need to be appropriately investigated.
When a child dies, there is a statutory requirement that the death will be comprehensively reviewed in a way which promotes learning and transparency.
The Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) receives notifications on all child deaths occurring in the local area. CDOPs conduct case reviews to help prevent further child deaths; you can find out more about their responsibilities in the Working together to safeguard children guidance.
The BSCP receives an Annual Report from CDOP, which reviews the activity and findings from the analysis of data collected locally and the annual return to national government.
The Child Protection Conferencing Service organises and chairs Initial Child Protection Conferences and Child Protection Reviews.
The BSCB receives an Annual report from the service, which reviews data relating to Child Protection Conferences and Plans as well as considering performance and quality assurance.
The Buckinghamshire LADO is responsible for overseeing the management of all allegations against people in a position of trust who work with children in Buckinghamshire on either a paid or voluntary basis. See LADO page on website for more information.
